In view of the EU4LEA project support to the Albanian Law Enforcement Institutions, the project conducted a 4-day mission, during 8-11 November 2022, with the objective to assess the current situation related to Environmental Crime in terms of organized crime and corruption.
For the purpose of this activity, the project recruited and deployed one international senior expert from Italian Carabinieri Corps, Lieutenant Colonel Massimiliano Corsano with extensive experience in the area of developing and implementing policies and procedures on counteracting environmental crime.
During the mission, meetings were held with high level representatives of the Albanian State Police, General Prosecutor’s Office, SPAK, National Environmental Agency, National Inspectorate for the Protection of the Territory etc.
The beneficiaries of this meetings welcomed the opportunity to explore and establish the necessary structures to investigate and properly proceed criminal offenses related to environment.
