Colonel Fabio OTTAVIANI
Colonel Fabio Ottaviani was born in Rome in 1971. He is married with three daughters. In 1990 he joined the Carabinieri Corps attending the 172° course for officers of the Army Military Academy, to which Carabinieri Corps belonged from 1814 to 2000. In 1992, after being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, he joined a three year-long course at the Carabinieri Officers Training Center in Rome where he graduated in law getting the rank of First Lieutenant. He had several tours of duty in high risk areas of Italy, such as Palermo (Sicily), Bari (Apulia) and Cosenza (Calabria), gaining a sound experience in countering mafia-style criminal organizations, crime prevention and anti-riots services. He had the opportunity to develop a wide experience in central institutions, such as the Carabinieri Headquarter, the Ministry of Defense Cabinet and the Criminal Police Central Directorate of the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of Interior. In this latest institution he held the position of Division Director at the International Police Cooperation Service where he specialized in EU Police Cooperation with a focus on international fugitives belonging to top organised crime groups. In this regard, he was appointed as Component Leader for Fugitive Active Search Teams within the EU funded project IPA 2019 “Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans” and finally he was nominated Team Leader of the EU funded project “European Union for Law Enforcement in Albania” (EU4LEA), which is in line of continuity with the well known EU funded project named PAMECA.
